What happened to Kasey Kahne at MIS this year?

I just went to the race at michigan international speedway last weekend and i think it was somewhere around lap 160, he was in 4th one lap, and all of a sudden by the time he made it around to where we were on the track he dropped all the way down to 30th. What happened?
