How soon after getting an infection removed from my gums can I do it again?

I got an infection surgically removed from my gums but now, a few weeks later, I feel like not all of it has been removed. I know that when an infection is removed from the gums, it does stray from its original position a little bit, so I want to know when I should go back to the dentist to get another removal done. You may say to ask my dentist, but I want a second opinion. Thank you in advance.
