How long does it take for an Adult Canine tooth to come in?

I am 14 years old, and I have some mouth problems, I have 4 extra teeth and a baby canine tooth. I went to a dentist and they surgically removed the baby canine tooth and one extra tooth. The dentist said that there is a 50/50 chance of my adult canine tooth coming down on it's own. But it's been 3 months and there is no sign of that tooth coming down. I am to go back for more surgery in August, but I really don't want to go around with a gap in my mouth any longer. What is the normal rate for an Adult Canine tooth to come in? And should I make a sooner appointment for them to look at my mouth? Thanks so much!
