Friend Vibe Or More Than Friend Vibe?

He's a really shy, good Chrisitan guy and he's gorgeous. I asked him to be my Homecoming Escort for my college Homecoming and he agreed, shly. It was so sweet. He said he was honored. We've remained good friends ever since. Messaging on Facebook, and texting. And, he said he wanted to meet me for lunch to celebrate my b'day since he had Vacation Bible School the night of my birthday and give me my present (something he had in mind), but I moved it to a later date, so he could come. And, while texting, figuring out the plans, he said he wanted to make sure that we were on the same page and if it was gonna be just me & him or were other people I invited going to be there? Was he freaking out at it just being us? I don't understand what's so different about eating at night as opposed as to meeting for lunch? Did I just over-analyze? I told him that I invited a bunch more people, but that I didn't know who all would be able to come and that it might wind up just being us. He said that it sounded good to him and that he should be good to go. I am just confused? I feel like he kinda likes me, but am I mis-reading his signals? And, he hugged me out of the blue in front of a lot of people when we met up one day...kinda shocked me. He don't normally hug people, from what I've seen. Maybe I mis-read that too. What does it matter if it's just us? Help?
