Constant hypertrophic scarring on monroe piercing? HELP!?
Hello. I got my monroe piercing in the beginning of November 2010, it is now June 2011. So around 6 months now. Well, ever since 2-3 weeks after I got it pierced, that little infamous 'bubble' (excess scar tissue) forms just above outside of the piercing. Every time I get it to go away, it comes back. I've done constant sea salt soaks, warm compresses, everything. The only thing that got it to go away 'for good' was tea tree oil...I finally thought that I would be bump free after that, and I was for 3 weeks. Well I went to the dentist last week and she kept hitting it accidently with her instruments. The next day it was back, slowly but surely! I've been dabbing tea tree oil on it every day and night to get it to go away so it will hopefully dry out and fall off. This is seriously ruining any fun I had with it, and once it goes away I am taking the piercing out so I don't have to deal with this anymore. Everyone always thinks I just got it, or it's infected. I've been told it's not, it's just due to irritation. It doesn't hurt, I don't feel any pain at all. Just dealing with this unsightly bump. Any advice? I heard that if you take it out while the scar tissue is still there, it will stay that way and become 'trapped' once the hole closes up?! I really don't want to wait any longer...this is extremely frustrating. Should I go to a dermatologist? I heard they can prescribe you some sort of antibiotic if it keeps coming back. I am afraid that if I take the piercing out now, the bump will remain and I will have to get it surgically removed.
